For something shoegaze-adjacent, these songs tend to be more buoyant than turbulent, but with some slow tempos and gurgling, guttural guitars and feedback to be found. Loads of hooks and melody balance wonderfully with some dissonance and disquiet, and a dynamic vocal performance ranges from gauzy drones to tastefully sweet pop. The lead vocal can come across as a mixed like a backup part, but that’s sort of a nice treatment for this, really. Arrangement/composition is delightful, with warmly distorted guitars taking turns and interweaving beautifully with gentle and generally shimmering synthesizers.
